This vital program will be implemented in the communities of Ti Tree, Pmara Jutunta, and Nturiya, targeting First Nations students through a blend of classroom instruction and on-Country experiences. It aims to nurture cultural heritage, environmental consciousness, and practical abilities.
A crucial aspect of the program is the formation of a Steering Committee, which includes local ranger groups, educational institutions, Traditional Owners, and Elders to provide culturally relevant guidance and ensure it remains culturally informed, and community led. The first Steering Committee meeting occurred on 22 April 2025 at the CDRC office in Ti Tree, marking a significant milestone in the collaborative implementation of the program. The Council anticipates working with the community to help youth reinforce their cultural connections and engage in enriching on-Country activities.
